This Privacy Policy describes how Aether TV (“the App”, “we”, “us”) handles information when you use our mobile application. Aether TV is an independent third-party remote control application for Apple TV devices and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Apple Inc.
1. Summary
- We do not require you to create an account.
- We do not sell your personal information.
- Pairing credentials for your Apple TV are stored only on your device (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore) and are never transmitted to us.
- All communication with your Apple TV happens directly over your local network; no remote server is involved.
- We use Firebase (Crashlytics & Analytics) and RevenueCat to keep the app stable and to manage subscriptions.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information stored only on your device
The App stores Apple TV pairing credentials (long-term Ed25519 keys negotiated during Pair-Setup) in the operating system’s secure storage (iOS Keychain or Android Keystore). These credentials never leave your device and are not accessible to us.
2.2 Information collected automatically by third-party SDKs
To operate, improve, and monetize the App, we integrate the following third-party SDKs:

These services may process your data in accordance with their own privacy policies: Firebase, RevenueCat, Google Play.
2.3 Information we do NOT collect
- Your name, email address, or phone number.
- Your precise or approximate location.
- Your contacts, photos, microphone, or camera data.
- Network identifiers of devices on your local network beyond what is required for the App to function (i.e. Apple TV addresses you explicitly pair with).
3. How We Use Information
- To deliver the App’s core functionality (controlling your paired Apple TV).
- To diagnose crashes and improve stability.
- To understand aggregate usage patterns and prioritize features.
- To manage in-app subscriptions and entitlements.
We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
4. Local Network Access
The App uses your local Wi-Fi network to discover Apple TV devices via mDNS and to communicate with them using Apple’s Companion protocol. This communication is strictly peer-to-peer and never traverses our servers (we do not operate any backend servers for this functionality).
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes. We share data only with the service providers listed in section 2.2, solely so they can perform services on our behalf.
6. Data Retention
- On-device pairing credentials: retained until you remove the paired Apple TV in the App, or uninstall the App.
- Crash & analytics data: retained according to Firebase’s default retention (up to 14 months for Analytics; ~90 days for Crashlytics).
- Subscription records: retained for as long as required by Google Play and applicable accounting law.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction (e.g. GDPR in the EU, CCPA in California), you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction or deletion of your data.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Withdraw consent at any time (e.g. by uninstalling the App).
To exercise these rights, contact us at the email address below. To request deletion of analytics and crash data associated with your device, send an email with the subject line “Data Deletion Request” and we will process it within 30 days.
8. Children’s Privacy
Aether TV is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. Security
All communication between the App and your Apple TV is end-to-end encrypted using ChaCha20-Poly1305 with keys derived via Pair-Setup (SRP-6a) and Pair-Verify (Curve25519 ECDH + Ed25519). Communication with third-party services (Firebase, RevenueCat, Google Play) is encrypted in transit using TLS.
10. International Data Transfers
Our third-party processors (Google, RevenueCat) may process data in the United States or other countries. Where required by law, these providers rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards for cross-border transfers.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes will be highlighted within the App or via the Google Play store listing.
